Famous Historical Geometers

 


 

Haven’t you ever wondered who discovered all of these things that we study in math courses? Many mathematicians throughout history have contributed much to the study and advancement of geometry as well as in other areas of mathematics, science, and philosophy. You will spend the next three days creating and presenting a project based on research of a very important geometer in history.

 


 

Step 1: Choose your partner & geometer.

 

Step 2: (Wednesday, February 4) Research in library. Complete “A Biographical Sketch of a Famous Geometer”. All group members are expected to help with research.

 

Additional items that you will need:

    1.  A picture of the mathematician.

2.  Pictures or drawing of the geometrical concepts if applicable to explain the mathematician’s contributions.

3.  Any additional items you feel would enhance your presentation.

 

 

Step 3: (Friday, February 6 & Tuesday, February 10) Create your presentation. The 600 hall computer lab will be available to you. Using the information you gathered on the “Biographical Sketch” worksheet and the pictures / drawings you collected, you must created a way to present your findings. All group members are expected to help with the creation of the presentation.

 

Ways to present your information:

      1.  Poster

2.  Power Point

3.  Booklet

 

 

Step 4: (Thursday, February 12) Presentation Day. All group members are expected to help with the presentation.
